My Story
As a kid I visited India with my parents. I had an opportunity to meet with few kids during my visit to an Ashram(Spiritual Hermitage) where we distributed blankets. In the line there was a kid with books in hand. After sometime I saw him sitting under the tree and doing Math calculations by drawing with a small sharp stone over mud and practice. I approached him and asked way is he not doing it on a paper? He said he does not have one. That sentence hit me hard. I can see the dreams in his eyes and keen interest of learning but do not have basic resources or infrastructure. I returned to the USA; but that scene kept haunting me.
I was trying to find ways to support the kids and provide them the basic education. I did various volunteering hours, but still looking for a platform which drives towards teaching underprivileged kids. As education is the foundation to make someone independent and earn their livelihood rather providing with temporary support.
While I was looking for a wider platform to reach out to more motivated kids and build a team when I came across The friends in Need, which is a great initiative towards children’s organizing Aside from teaching I plan on organizing fund raisers and building an interactive community to reach out to more students and touching more inquisitive hearts through teaching and communication education.
